EBF Council Meetings (Budapest, Hungary)

Welcome to the latest edition of the EBF newsletter, where we bring you updates, insights, and stories from across our vibrant Baptist community.

Gathered under the title “Change of Era” taken from Miroslav Volf’s message at Sent 2023, the 2024 Council in Budapest became a bridge between the past and future. As Helle Liht reminded us, “there is no longer the opportunity to walk the well-worn track”. It was a council of tears and laughter, of joy and sorrow.

The council ran at capacity with 150 participants from 41 countries. Despite the tensions, wars and local disasters facing the region, we were constantly reminded in worship, teaching and in the reports that came from Ukraine, Russia, Armenia, Israel, Palestine and Lebanon, that God is with us and working among us.

During Council we adopted new ECO guidelines!

In our second year of Carbon footprint offsetting we raised 750 euros. The donation was made to the EBM INTERNATIONAL  project called Sahel Vert(Green Sahel).

This bring the total number of trees planted by EBF to over 2000. We featured the project on our website.

The EBF’s Commission on Migration is happy to be able to offer 3 free places to RHP Europe (Roundtable - Refugee Highway Partnership - Europe ).

You will be:

  • From an EBF member organisation/union

  • Actively involved in supporting refugees and/or asylum seekers

  • New to a RHP Round Table event

  • Create an opportunity to share learning or resources with others in your Union or Federation

  • Available and committed to attend the RHP event and sessions

  • Able to confirm travel preferences before end of November 2024 so EBF can book or reimburse you before end of 2024.

  • Available to participate in a gathering of baptists at the event

  • Able to get required visa if required

EBF can pay for registration which includes hotel and meals, plus a reasonably priced return flight to Malaga. If we have more than 3 applications the Commission on Migration, in consultation with Alan Donaldson, will decide who to offer the places to. We will prioritise people with lived experience of displacement.

250 DAYS UNTIL BAPTIST WORLD CONGRESS

JULY 7-12, 2025

Join this powerful time of worship, prayer, fellowship, teaching, and service in the beautiful city of Brisbane, Australia. Experience this one-of-a-kind opportunity to gather with Baptist sisters and brothers from around the world and learn how God is at work in and through our global family.

Please keep on praying for Lebanon. Our dear brothers and sister in Lebanon  are navigating between sleepless nights and grief-stricken days. Our partners in Lebanon  continue to rely on God’s steadfast love helping many displaced people.

This call for prayer comes at a time of public confusion and dissatisfaction following the recent election. It has also been a time of oppression for baptist churches from other religious groups.

Georgia is a nation loved by God and by the European Baptist Federation family who have supported one church planting family for the last 5 years. Church planters, M.A. and N.A. are a married couple who with their family and a small team have been blessing the lives of many in the capital city Tbilisi and in other localities.

“My wife N.A. is a very important member of our mission plant team. She, as a professional nurse, is very supportive of my ministry. Through our visitation, we have made a good impact on the unbelievers who need medical help and spiritual encouragement.”
